detritivore

Detritivores are organisms that obtain nutrients from decomposing plants, animal parts, and organic fecal matter. They distinguished from decomposers, such as bacteria and fungi, because they cannot ingest large amount of matter and they absorb and metabolize on a molecular scale. Slugs, millipedes, sea cucumbers, sea stars, and worms are typical detritivores.
