glycogen

Glycogen is a polysaccharide that acts as a source of energy storage in animals and fungi. In humans, glycogen is mostly produced and stored in the liver and muscles, but it could also be made from other organs. The human body converts carbohydrates into glycogen for temporary energy storage and the body converts carbohydrates into adipose cells for long-term energy storage. Meats, such as pork, beef, and chicken, is high in glycogen.
