hydrophilic

On the contrary to the hydrophobic effect, the hydrophilic effect is the tendency of a polar substance/solute to dissolve in water. Hydrophiles include alcohol, salt, and sugar and in the case of salt, it could actually draw water out of the air or food. Sugar could sometimes draw water out of food. Alcohol and hydrogen peroxide are polar substances
which allows it to dissolve in water. In the cell membrane, there are hydrophilic and hydrophobic parts.
