exoskeleton

An exoskeletons is an external skeleton that supports and provide protection for an organism. Many insects have an exoskeleton unlike mammals that have endoskeletons. Crustaceans such as crabs and lobsters also have exoskeletons. Some animals such as the tortoise have both an endoskeleton and exoskeleton.
